Volunteer

Would you like to help in your community? Make a difference in someone’s life? HILC can use your help to make life easier for individuals with disabilities in our communities. Our goal is to enable people to remain independent in their own home rather go to a residential care facility. After all, “Home Is Where the Heart Is.”

Our Transition program often needs volunteers to help someone transition back into their home or apartment. In many instances, the home has been empty for a lengthy period of time and needs cleaning, yard clean-up or maintenance. Some individuals move into an unfurnished residence and have already given up their household belongings. Transporting furniture and household items is also a part of the transition process.

HILC can always use help at special events; rummage sales, fundraisers, and clean up days. There are also office-related tasks such as filing and shredding that require a person with keen attention to detail. Just let us know how and when you would like to help, and we’ll contact you to schedule a project.
