Dear Heartland ILC,

This is a letter to tell you how much I thank you for being there for me. Even on my bad days, calling me to see if I need anything. And to see just how I am doing. Recently, I found bad news from my doctor. You called that day and talked to me, but I was so upset. I didn’t want to talk to anyone and that wasn’t a problem. I called back the next day and made arrangements to see her and tell her I was in need of a shower chair. She took my request. They have always been there for me and worked with me. Being bipolar and now heart and other problems I’ve had, I just want you to know and to keep up the good job.

Dear Friends,

We wish to thank you so much for the ramp Jim built. It is beautiful and so needed. Without this Harris couldn’t have gotten outside the house without taking the chance of falling on the old one or it giving way, which it has on me, hurting me badly. This was so needed and so appreciated. Now he sits on it a lot and just absorbs the fresh air. This has made him so much more mobile. I couldn’t believe in less than 3 days Jim made such a beautiful piece of workmanship. He is such a treasure. Thank you Jim and the rest of you for listening and helping us.

To Heartland…

            Daily I thoroughly enjoy and use the many benefits of my Consumer Directed Services program through Heartland Independent Living Center.   Because of Heartland I.L.C. and its dedicated and wonderful staff, which I’d like to thank very much, I am able to live in my own home more comfortably.

            Here are a few of my “must have” items that Heartland makes possible.  I  can go out in public, not just to Doctor’s visits but also to some social and recreational events.  I do not have to worry about stained or mismatched colors because my attendant assists me when needed.  Also my bills get paid on time because my attendant helps me write checks so I can sign them.  Grocery labeling is also important as well as directions for preparing some foods that may be new to me.

            My attendant reads directions on my new medications when needed and is able to provide minor first-aid like bandaging and medicating wounds.   She also does my housework.

            I also value and appreciate the advice and listening ears of my Heartland Case Manager.  Should a problem arise she and the Heartland staff are most attentive to needs of their consumers and are willing to help whenever needed.

    Thank you Heartland I.L.C.  Be proud of who you are.   Keep up the fantastic work and the great services you continually provide.

To the Staff at Heartland Independent Living Center,

Thank you so much for all you’ve done for us.  We were at such a loss with all of our health issues and life changes till we heard of your center.  You have been our light at the end of the tunnel when we didn’t know who to turn to.   After just a phone call to you and within hours we had a cane and a wheel-chair, even a wheel-chair ramp. An air conditioner when ours broke this summer.   You are all so very thoughtful in your dealings with us and we can never commend you enough for all you do.

            A special thanks to Maggie Brooks for all of her help and support and for the Holiday basket.

I would like to write a note about my caseworker, Ann Cassidy.   She is so kind and patient.  She helps me in so many ways.   She helps me understand things and is very thoughtful, never making me feel like my questions are not important.  I feel very grateful to have a caseworker like Ann.

  1. I was treated with respect, courtesy, pleasantness, and compassion. People who need things are not always treated this way.
  2. I was amazed at how fast I was given the help.
  3. Learning to use the phone I was able to choose, was a new experience for me.
  4. I feel empowered and encouraged to continue to make a living.  It gives me dignity and I love my job.   I work with children and now can hear them, really hear them.
  5. The policies were more than fair.  You know God works in mysterious way because a year ago I didn’t really think I would get help.
  6. Working with children is my greatest joy.  I plan to seek employment at a day care center this summer when school is out for the summer.
  7. I received responses the very day that I would call.
  8. I cannot even think I could have served any better.

Hi there. 

Just wanted to say a great be THANK YOU and keep up the good work!  The last few years my health has declined.  I was looking at possibly having to go to assisted living or a nursing home.   Ever since I fell at work two years ago I have had some breathing problems and a lot of weight gain.   I was unable to stand for long periods of time or walk a long distance.   After many tests in Columbia they said I have Degenerative Disk Disease, Spinal Stenosis and COPPD.  A friend told me about Heartland.  I didn’t want to leave home.   I have a great pet: m friend Buster.   I learned that I could have someone here to take care of my—cook, clean and personal care.   I was able to get a hospital bed so I can raise my legs and head as needed.  I also got a raised toilet seat and a Rollator, a walker with a seat!   And the ladies at Heartland are so sweet and kind, considerate and helpful.  Thank you Heartland for helping me stay home, retain my privacy and dignity, chose my own caregiver—my trusted friend and daughter.

To Whom It May Concern:, I have had CDS services through Heartland for several years now.  This service has allowed me to have my daughter assist me with my personal and health care needs.  Heartland employees, especially Lori, have always been available to answer any questions or assist in any-way needed.   She has always found a way to work around my appointments which I have so many of.   I appreciate all your help.

Heartland has made it possible for me to live in my home.  Because of the program, I do not have to be in a nursing home somewhere. I’ve had nothing but excellent care since  day one, and all my needs are always met.   If I had to speak to Lori or anyone else and I’m unable to reach them right away, they are always quick to call me back in a timely manner.   Thank you Heartland for making it possible for me to live independently in my home.
