HILC Assistive Equipment Loan and Donation programs distribute hundreds of assistive devices to people with disabilities in our service area to increase their level of independence and improve their quality of life.
HILC participates in two grant-funded programs through Missouri Assistive Technology; the Recycling Grant and the Demonstration Grant. Heartland can accept donations of assistive equipment that are no longer being used, and recycle these items back into the community where they are needed. The Demonstration Grant allows individuals to come to HILC to have equipment demonstrated for them to make sure they know what is best suited for their needs. When dealing with smaller pieces of equipment, HILC Specialists can take the item to the individuals’s home to demonstrate.
When available, items such as wheelchairs, transfer benches, shower chairs, raised toilet seats, bedside commodes, and lift chairs are loaned and/or donated to qualifying individuals.
