HILC offers limited Ramp and Home Modification programs to qualifying individuals. Both programs are designed to increase accessibility for individuals with mobility impairments.
HILC has “tri-fold” and “suitcase” ramps to loan. These ramps can provide temporary access to a person’s residence. Our Ramp Loan Program is primarily for those who will only need a ramp for 90 to 120 days while regaining their mobility after an accident, illness, and/or surgery, or while seeking assistance for the construction of a more permanent ramp.
Our Home Modification Program may be able to make a bathtub accessible for a person with limited mobility through a process called a tub cut.
A Heartland Independent Living Specialist will conduct an on-site assessment of the individual’s need and living environment. The HILC Specialist will complete a financial assessment to determine if the applicant meets HILC’s income guidelines. Financial assistance for both of these programs is made possible with grant funding from the United Way of Franklin County.
